Stephen K. Opdyke

Stephen Keith Opdyke, 68, passed away peacefully at his home on November 30, 2020.
Steve was born March 1, 1952 to Keith and Peggy Opdyke in Raton, New Mexico. He grew up in Salina, Kansas where he went to Salina Central High School. Steve graduated from The University of Kansas and spent his career as a Pharmacist, retiring from CVS in 2018. After retirement, Steve spent a great deal of his time with his wife and granddaughters. He could also be found reading, listening to music, cooking, and traveling. Steve was known for his generosity and donated over 5 gallons of blood to the Community Blood Center. Steve was a friend to many and would never turn down an opportunity to go out for dinner and drinks or host a party for his neighbors and co-workers.
Steve is survived by his wife and best friend of 40 years, Myra; daughter, Rachael Nickerson (and spouse, Jeff); son, Chris Opdyke (and spouse, Lindsey); granddaughters – Joely, Alex, and Emerson and sister Eileen Downs.
We would like to thank the staff at Research, Belton, and Overland Park Regional Medical Center as well as Phoenix Home Care and Hospice for their compassionate care over the past several weeks.
Services
Due to the current public health situation we will not be having a service at this time, but hope to gather for a celebration of life when we can do so safely.
Contributions
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society or Community Blood Center.
