Russell was the seventh child of a Missouri farmer during the depression era. His parents encouraged his education and Russ graduated from Smith Cotton High School in Sedalia, Missouri in 1947.  He moved to Kansas City the following summer and in September 1948 enlisted into the Army and was selected for the Army Security Agency (ASA) branch. We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Russ. We had such good times with delivering meals on wheels, enjoying the Sunday service with an outing after church and at the church luncheon every month. Lois I sure have missed coming to see you but the pandemic interfered with those visits. Just know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers at this time.

Dear Lois, Jennifer, Donna and family,
I just saw Russ’s obituary. So sorry to hear about his passing. We loved being your neighbors on Bond Street and keeping up contact all through the years. Lois, your Christmas card was always the first one to come in the mail. You and Russ always gave the Bond Street kids one cookie a day. They loved those cookies. Russ was such a gentle, kind man always smiling and laughing. He was very intelligent .. even wrote a book! He will be in our hearts forever. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Love, Karen and Ted
