Richard Lecklider Obituary

Richard “Dick” L. Lecklider was a caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He left this world on May 14, 2023 at age 76 after a long battle with COPD.

He was born to Robert and Eleanor Lecklider on January 5, 1947 in Lindsborg, Kansas. After graduating from high school, Dick served in the Army as Military Police Officer where he was stationed at Pearl Harbor during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, he began what would become a 47 year career at FemCo in McPherson, Kansas. He retired from FemCo in March 2020 at the age 73 as a Fabrication Foreman. Dick used to race stock cars at many local Kansas tracks, where he ran as #51. Dick was an avid NASCAR and Jeff Gordon fan. He enjoyed attending racing events at Kansas Speedway and maintained a large collection of model cars. He also enjoyed working on classic cars and trucks. Dick also enjoyed fishing at the Smoky Valley River and at the Lake of the Ozarks with his family. One of Dick’s greatest enjoyments was spending time with family and his grandchildren.

Dick is predeceased by his parents, Robert and Eleanor Lecklider, and his brothers, Leigh Lecklider and Ronnie Lecklider. Dick is survived by his wife, Celeste Lecklider of Kansas City, KS; daughter, Reniece Shaw of Baytown, TX; sisters, Rayna Ryan of Sacramento, CA and Rita Ball of Kingman, AZ; his grandsons, Anthony Wiley and Derrick Wiley both of McPherson, KS; great-grandson, Conner Wiley of Baytown, TX; his step-daughters, Whitney (Jeff) Blomberg and Georganne Miller both of Shawnee, KS; step-son, Cory Webster of Solomon, KS; step-grandchildren, Britney (Skyler) Braun of Shawnee, KS, Bethany (Keith) Dawson of Magnolia, TX, Lindsey Miller of Shawnee, KS, and Cameron Webster of Canton, KS; and four step-great-grandchildren.

Dick will be laid to rest at a private service. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Jeff Gordon Foundation or the Emil Pinkall Post 140 American Legion on his behalf.
