Norman W. Lake of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on September 11, 2022. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on March 9, 1954.
After graduating high school, Norm joined the United States Air Force where he served for 11 years both overseas and at home. He studied at the University of Maryland and University of Kansas. He spent most of his career with computers: repairing, teaching computer certifications, and networking. Later in his career, he was in management at ExamOne/Quest Diagnostics where he retired January 2020.
Norm has been a devoted husband of Diana M. Lake (nee Short) married since Oct 1973; loving father of Angela Lake and Damian (Cindy Roth) Lake. Proud grandfather of Elizabeth and Nicolette Lake, brother to Raymond (Lydia Equitz) Lake, brother-in-law, cousin, uncle, and friend.
Norm loved his Lord and Savior and his faith showed by the way he loved and served others. With his wife, Diane, he was active in Marriage Encounter where they served as Leaders of NE Kansas. He had a passion for marriage and a gift helping others through difficult times.
He enjoyed shooting, bicycle riding, motorcycle riding, camping, traveling, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was known for his quirky sense of humor and ability to talk comfortably to anyone.
He will be forever remembered first for his love of God, loving Diane, then love of family and friends. He also liked to travel and see as much of this beautiful country as we could. He was compassionate, loving, and light hearted.
He will be deeply missed by all that loved him and knew him.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Saturday, September 17th, 2022 at the Amos Family Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 also at the funeral home. Norman will be laid to rest in Leavenworth National Cemetery Monday, September 19th, 2022 at 12:30 p.m.
