Nancy Elizabeth White, 73, born Butler County, Missouri December 1, 1949 passed away Saturday April 29, 2023 in Olathe, KS.
She is preceded in death by her parents Bill and Wilma Hambelton and sister Donna Sawyer. She is survived by her loving husband Donald White of 48 years, her son Jacob White (Kristin) and grandchildren Jonas and Evie White of Denver, CO. Her daughter Sarah Williams (Robert) and grandchildren Jack and Ava Williams of Olathe, KS. She is remembered by her siblings Cassandra Williams, Paul Hambelton, John Hambelton and Tim Hambelton, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Nancy was born in rural Butler County, Missouri then moved to St. Charles, Missouri where she loved school and baseball. The family moved to Shawnee, KS in 1964 where she graduated from St. Joseph High School, class of 1967. She graduated Kansas State University with a Bachelor’s of Science of Education in May of 1971. She retired in 2010 from the Olathe School district after teaching 9th grade science and biology for 39 years, last school being Indian Trail Middle School. She loved teaching, her students and her fellow teachers
Nancy loved spending time with grandkids and family. She enjoyed being with close friends from teaching, high school and college. She liked visiting and parties with the neighbors. She enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening, cooking, seasonal decorating and cheering for her beloved sports teams. Go Wildcats, Chiefs and Royals! You have a fan in heaven.
A visitation will be held on Thursday May 4, 2023 from 6:00 pm with the praying of the Rosary beginning at 7:30 pm at the Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee. Mass of Christian burial will be held the following day, Friday, May 5, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shawnee, KS. The family suggests memorials be sent to the Olathe Public Schools Foundation 300 E Loula St, Olathe, KS 66061.
