Martha Mae “Peggy” Beaman (nee Morton), 78, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away surrounded by family on February 24, 2024.

Peggy, born on July 30, 1945 to M. Rea and Martha Morton in Protection, Kansas, was a twin to Marvin Rea “Bucky” Morton. Peggy was considered the baby of the family as she was born ~5 minutes after Bucky.

After graduation with an Associate’s Degree, Peggy attended University of Kansas (KU) where she met the love of her life, O. Richard Beaman in German class. The two were wed on September 11, 1966.

Peggy worked for Hallmark Cards in Lawrence, KS until the birth of her first child when she became a homemaker. Peggy was an avid seamstress and loved to draw. She loved being a wife and mom.

Peggy was a member of the Johnson County Doll and Teddy Bear society where she attended regular monthly meetings and was the secretary for a short while. Peggy traveled to Doll and Teddy Bear conventions where she could share her love of dolls with others.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Rea and Martha Morton, brother Bucky Morton, and sister Donna Uhl.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Richard Beaman; children Donna Steve (Joe) and Brian Beaman (Tricia), 5 grandchildren Elaine Steve (Thomas Kramer), Joseph Steve (Nola Steve), Logan Beaman, Quinn Beaman, and Savannah Beaman; and one great grandchild on the way (Baby Kramer).
