Marian Strouse Obituary

Marian Julia Strouse was born on October 7, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio.  She passed away in the evening on June 15, 2022 at Lakeview Village in Lenexa, Kansas at the age of 98.

Marian attended Orange High in Orange County, Ohio. During war times, she worked in Cleveland at the U.S.O. and met her husband, Claude Strouse, a sailor who was stationed with the Coast Guard on Lake Erie. They were married and moved back to his home state of Kansas to attend his last two years of college at Kansas University.  Marian attended two years of art there to earn an associate’ s degree. Marian served her church faithfully for 50 years, Salem Lutheran Church as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher and committee member.  She was a full time wife and mother until her children were in middle school when she became a US Government worker at the IRS until she retired. As a retiree, she volunteered for 20 years at the Overland Park Regional Hospital Gift Shop.  

Marian is preceded in death by her husband, Claude Strouse; her parents, Alex & Mary Deak of Cleveland, OH, a son, Dwight and daughter, Alexis.

Survivors include a daughter, Claudia McVicker and husband Daryl of Manhattan, KS; grandchildren, Luke McVicker of Manhattan, KS, Missy McVicker of Shawnee, KS, and great grandchildren, Madeline Dibble and Dexter Dibble of Shawnee, KS.  Her joy for life and sunny disposition will be missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 18th, 2022 at 10 am at the Amos Family Funeral Home. Marian will be laid to rest with her family at the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Olathe, KS.
