Jerome S. Mushinski

Jerome “Jerry” S. Mushinski, 83, passed away on August 7th, 2022 in Lenexa, Kansas.

Jerry was born on August 20th, 1938 to Sigmund and Mary Mushinski in Gallitzin, Ohio. He grew up alongside two sisters, Monica and Maryann Mushinski. Jerry enjoyed playing and watching baseball as a young man growing up.

In 1961, he enlisted in the Air Force and was a navigator for over 21 years. During his span in the military, he received 14 medals, including a Distinguished Flying Cross and numerous Airmans Medals. He retired as a Major in 1982 and settled in Little Rock, Arkansas.

He met Jo Ann (Uekman) Green at St. Anne’s Church in North Little Rock, and married in September of 1992. He was a loving and dedicated husband for 29 years. Jerry and Jo Ann moved to the Kansas City area in 2004 and settled in Shawnee to be around their children.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Mushinski; step-children Michael (Tammy) Green, and Michelle Green; grandchildren Zach, Katie, and Jessie; two great-grandchildren Emmett and Evelyn Green; sisters Monica Fanady and Maryann Mushinski; nephew John Fanady; niece Jana Ackerman; and many other family members and loved ones who will miss him dearly. Jerry will be especially missed by his beloved dog, Duke.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 16th, 2022 at 10am, with a rosary prayed at 9:30am, both at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shawnee, Kansas. Jerry will be laid to rest at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas following the mass. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the church.
