Albert Ballard Obituary

Albert Kenneth Ballard, Sr., 80, of Shawnee, Kansas passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, January 6, 2022. He was born November 14, 1941 in Kansas City, Missouri to Steven and Mamie (Steele) Ballard.

Albert worked hard as a welder for Millwright 1529 for over 40 years. When he wasn’t working overtime and weekends you could find him on the fields playing competitive softball. Albert had an intense passion for sports, especially baseball. He enjoyed coaching, playing, and watching all the sports as a father and grandfather. When life slowed down he began focusing on fishing, hunting, golf and family. His love for fish was shared with his brothers and his sons. Spending time with family was always a joy. Family dinners consisting of 34 people crammed in a house overtalking each other was his favorite. Attending ballgames to coach from the stands for his grandkids brought him great joy. Those that knew popps knew that his grumpy demeanor was easy to crack. You would find him smirking and cursing with the best of them. He dreamed of restoring his 55 Chevy and enjoyed working with his brother Gill at his shop. He loved camping, taking pictures, Taco Bell, the Outdoor channel, the Hollywood Casino playing penny slots, the Chiefs & Royals as long as they were winning, the police, the veterans, and anything Trump. He would give you the shirt off his back, food to eat, a bed to sleep in or money if you needed it, never batting an eye. He loved the Lord, he loved his family and we know he’s sitting with his Father. He left a hole and will be missed tremendously. Until we see you again, rest easy popps.

Albert was preceded in death by his wife Norma, brothers James, Jerry, Gilbert (Gill), his parents and son Bobby Goff.

Survivors include his sister Jan Foland of Belton, MO, daughter Kathy Williams of Georgia, sons Albert Ballard, Jr. of Tennessee, Scottie (Jamie) Ballard of Louisburg, Bill Goff of Hilsdale, Dan Goff of Kansas City, Steve (Marnie) Goff of Kansas City, Joe Goff of Alabama. 18 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren. And many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
