Alan Greenawalt passed away on Monday, October 16th on his 88th birthday.
He was a lifelong outdoor enthusiast and artist. Growing up he attended Shawnee Mission North, where he was active in band and art. Here is also where he would meet his future wife, Muriel.
Alan later attended KU. After college, he went to work for Western Auto where he eventually became Art Chief and worked out of the iconic Western Auto building downtown, a fact he was immensely proud of.
He reconnected with Muriel and married. They lived many happy years in Branson, MO. Never one to rest, he was constantly working on his yard, fishing, painting or attending church activities. He never met a stranger he didn’t like, and he never left the table hungry.
Alan is survived by his wife, Muriel, of 30 years and is loved by 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Westchester Village and KC Hospice for the care he received.
