Yukti Jain

Yukti Jain, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, and the center of her family, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026, at KU Hospice House. She was 48.

Yukti lived a life filled with energy, love, laughter, adventure, and an extraordinary devotion to the people around her. She was the kind of person who made others feel welcome. Bubbly, confident, funny, caring, and endlessly energetic, she formed deep friendships wherever she went and was always ready to help someone who needed her.

Yukti was married to Ankur Jain for 23 years. Their story began in 2003 when they met after Ankur, living in the USA, connected with her online, she was in India. After months of conversations, he traveled to Delhi to meet her. They married just six days after meeting in person. Together they built a family centered around love, education, family traditions, and making memories.

Her greatest joy was being a mother to her two children. Yukti devoted herself completely to their upbringing and education, often putting their needs ahead of her own. She helped them with schoolwork, activities, competitions, sports, and they also had fun in everyday life. Her children were her passion, and the people they became were a source of immense pride for her.

Yukti was also deeply devoted to family. She cared for Ankur's parents as though they were her own, forming a particularly special bond with Ankur's father. She remained closely connected to her own father and brothers in India and cherished her Indian family. Family gatherings, traditions, and their annual New Year's Day puja were especially meaningful to her.

She was an adventurer who loved life. Over the years, she traveled frequently with her family, including bi-annual trips to India, as well as memorable adventures to Paris, Canada, the World Series, the Final Four, and the kids’ national competitions for their activities. During a cruise excursion, she boldly jumped off a waterfall in the Dominican Republic. She loved hiking, fitness, sports, movies, road trips, and spending time outdoors with her family. She even learned to play tennis so she could spend more time with Ankur.

Her generosity extended well beyond her family. Yukti volunteered hundreds of hours helping young girls develop skills and confidence in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Her volunteer teams in programs including First Lego League and ProjectCSGirls received regional and national recognition. She was honored as one of the Top 50 recipients of the Haagen-Dazs Rose Project, recognizing women making a difference in their communities and inspiring young girls.

Yukti's life was ultimately about people. She loved making others happy, helping friends, bringing people together, cooking for others, celebrating together, and creating memories. Her friends loved her deeply, and when her own health declined, they surrounded her with the same love and generosity she had given them for so many years.

Yukti was diagnosed with Stage IV ovarian cancer in 2023. Despite years of various treatments and the enormous challenges that followed, she continued to focus on enjoying the simple moments with her family. She remained determined to make memories and bring happiness to those around her.

Her legacy is not defined by cancer. It is defined by the 45 years before it—and by the love, energy, generosity, courage, and happiness she gave to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Yukti is survived by her husband, Ankur; her children, her father, her two brothers, and a large extended family and circle of friends who loved her dearly.

She was, quite simply, one of a kind. Her smile, her laughter, her boundless energy, her generosity, and her love will remain with everyone whose life she touched.
