William Joel Parsons

William Joel Parsons, affectionately known as Joel, passed away on April 20, 2026, in Overland Park, KS, at the age of 54. Born on May 9, 1971, in Wichita, KS, Joel's journey through life was marked by his warm spirit and deep love for music, family, and friends.

Joel was a man who cherished connections, often meeting friends over coffee to catch up and share stories. His passion for music was not just a hobby but a lifelong love affair. Whether he was creating melodies on his studio equipment or appreciating the subtle beats in classical compositions, music was an essential part of his soul.

Professionally, Joel distinguished himself with a career that spanned across both Kansas and California. He most recently held positions at Spectrum Customer Solutions and Floor & Decor. However, it was his time at Warner Bros and Sony Pictures in California that left a lasting impact on him, where he cultivated meaningful relationships with his colleagues and called the state his home for many years.

Joel was a member of IATSE Local 695 Production Sound Technicians, reflecting his dedication and expertise in his field. The camaraderie he found among his co-workers extended beyond the workplace, forming bonds that lasted throughout his life.

Preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Jim and Lois Palmer, Dale and Ramona Parsons; Uncle Samuel Parsons; cousin Tracy Ferguson. Joel's memory will live on through those he left behind. He is survived by his mother, Connie (Palmer) Kingsley, and stepfather Michael Kingsley; father William Eugene Parsons and stepmother Sherry (Hutcherson) Parsons; sister Shelli (Parsons) Box; nephews Brandon Box and Taylor Box (Tiffany); niece Jennifer Box; eight great-nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles, along with numerous cousins on all sides of his large family, mourn his loss.

In addition to his human family, Joel's two cherished cats, Jr and Maggie, brought him joy and companionship and were truly his world. Though Joel may have left this world, his legacy of love, laughter, and music will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.

A celebration of life for Joel will be held at a date date.
