William “Will” Richard Fischer, age 23, of De Soto, KS, formerly of Sioux Falls, SD, died in a tragic airplane crash along with eleven other souls on Sunday, June 14, 2026 in Butler, MO. There will be two funeral services with one held in Shawnee, KS and the other in Sioux Falls, SD. A remembrance of Will’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at the Amos Family Funeral Home located at 10901 Johnson Dr, Shawnee, KS. An additional celebration of life, with family present, will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, July 10th, 2026 at Miller Funeral Home-Westside Chapel, 6200 W 41st St, Sioux Falls, SD.

William Richard was born on December 20, 2002, in Sioux Falls, SD to Gina C. Jacobs and Donn R. Fischer. He was raised and received his education in both Sioux Falls, SD and Lenexa, KS. Will moved down to Lenexa, KS in the summer after his 8th grade year in 2017.

Throughout his lifetime, Will has collected many nicknames like Otis, Willy J, & Mittens.

Will “Mittens” discovered his passion in life after a birthday party at iFLY Indoor Skydiving. While he persistently tried to get hired at iFLY after he turned 18, he had a short but successful career in sales at Spectrum. One August 15, 2024, he finally landed a job at iFLY and became a beloved instructor and co-worker. In addition to working at iFLY, Will was an avid parachute jumper who was on his 200th jump that would have qualified him to be an instructor when the plane crash occurred. Willy J was always a thrill seeker and had also taken up base jumping in the last few years. Although some of these jumps were not always done legally, he had plenty of friends to keep him (in and) out of trouble.

Will’s determination, adventurous nature, love of flying, and willingness to chase what brought him joy will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by every life he touched including too many friends to count, coworkers, and the skydiving community.

Grateful for having shared his life are his parents, Gina (Tom) Jacobs; Donn (Bridget) Fischer; siblings, Jessica (Brodie) Elyea, Josie (Johnny) Fischer, Samuel (Hannah) Jacobs, and Lydia Jacobs; grandparents, Diane Clemetson and Bill & Connie Fischer; great grandma, Vina LaFave; aunts and uncles, Dawn Clemetson, Lyndee (Roy) Griffith, Tya (Ray) Nordstrom, and Tami (Chad) Hughes; numerous cousins; and his Kaspar family. Will is preceded in death by his grandfather Richard Clemetson.
