Weldon Kern

Weldon Kern, 90, of Shawnee, KS, passed away, Mon-day, April 21, 2014. Weldon was born in Lawton, OK and has lived in the Kansas City area since 1976. Weldon attended Elementary, Junior High, and High School in Lawton, then two years at Cameron Junior College in Lawton. He then served in the Army during WWII. When he was discharged, he attended and graduated from Oklahoma A & M where he was a member of the SAE Fraternity and was a part of the starting five for the NCAA championship basketball teams in 1945 & 1946. He retired from the ICH Corporation after over 20 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joan Kern; his children, Mickey (Sally), David, Laurie, Brad (Autumn), and Mark. He was preceded in death by a son Jerry. He is also survived by a brother, Clayton; five granddaughters and seven great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Amos Family Funeral Home & Crematory.
