Traci L. Thelen, affectionately known as 'Trace', was born on September 23, 1967, in Garnett, Kansas. At the age of 58, she unfortunately passed on February 5, 2026, at St. Luke's in Kansas City, Missouri, after an unexpected, sudden cardiac arrest.
Traci was known for her incredible ability to light up a room with her infectious smile and positive energy. A devoted mother to her beloved daughters, Jordan and Riley, and an understanding wife to her equally adventurous spouse, Joe. Traci's family was the center of her universe. An enthusiastic teacher by profession, Traci spent her days inspiring young minds and her evenings making the most out of life.
In her free time, Traci could be found indulging in her many passions—traveling, dining out, attending KC sports events, or spending quality time with her loyal Doggies. A social person, she never missed an opportunity to share a glass—or two or more—of wine with friends while savoring life's little pleasures.
Preceded in death by her mother, Marlys Hayden, and her father, Bruce Brown, along with her beloved aunts, Linda Benjamin and Joanna Riley, Traci leaves behind a host of smiling faces who were lucky enough to have been blessed with her presence. Her surviving family includes her devoted spouse Joseph (Joe) Thelen, adoring daughters Jordan and Riley Thelen; her father H. Robert Hayden, and her uncles Larry Riley and Gary Benjamin, all of whom will carry on her legacy of warmth, unique wit, and goodhearted laughter.
To honor Traci's vibrant spirit, services will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Wesley Chapel at Resurrection Leawood, located at 13720 Roe Ave, Leawood, KS 66224. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 pm.
In true Traci-style, a Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00 pm at Serendipity Winery, 4674 W 183rd St, Stilwell, KS 66085. Join us as we raise a glass to the woman who lived life to its fullest and left behind a trove of cherished memories.
Rest easy, Traci. Your journey continues in the hearts of those you loved and inspired along the way.
