Timothy Joseph Bruggeman, affectionately known as Tim, passed away on May 4, 2026, in Shawnee, Kansas, at the age of 65. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, on October 7, 1960, Tim lived a life marked by dedication, passion, and an unwavering love for his family and interests.
Tim was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Elizabeth "BJ" Trometer, and a cherished father to their daughter, Tasia (Rowdy) Reed. He took immense pride in his grandchildren, Cannon and Collins Reed, who brought joy and laughter into his life.
A proud alumnus of the field of engineering, Tim dedicated his entire 40-year career to Black & Veatch as a Mechanical Engineer. His methodical nature and creative problem-solving skills made him a respected figure in his profession. Beyond his work, Tim's heart lay with his passions. An avid trapshooter, he was a member of both the Amateur Trapshooters Association (ATA) and the Kansas Trapshooters Association (KTA). He found joy welcoming Brazilian participants to the ATA Grand American World Trapshooting Championships with his warm speeches in Portuguese, a language he loved to learn and speak.
Tim's interests were as diverse as they were profound. He had a deep appreciation for baseball, the KC Current, and the Brazilian National Soccer Team, enjoying games in Portuguese whenever he could. A devoted fan of Star Trek and an enthusiast of Legos, Tim had a sharp wit and shared the best "dad" jokes, bringing smiles to all around him.
His passion for education and safety led him to become a Hunters' Education Teacher. His mentorship extended beyond the classroom, as he was always eager to guide and support those around him. As an avid learner, he also studied, improved and shared his extensive knowledge on the science and trajectory of ballistics with the trapshooting community.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, John "Clem" Bruggeman and Dolores "Dee" Bruggeman, and his brother, John Bruggeman. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and learning.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 28th at the Lenexa Thompson Barn from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. The family invites all who knew Tim to join in remembering and honoring his remarkable life.
