Tara Kae Wernes, 58, died Friday, February 22, 2013, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Merriam, Kansas.
Tara was born October 28, 1954, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Theo and Shirley Barker. Tara's passion in life was her grandchildren; she loved and adored them so much.
She is survived by her loving husband Donald; son, Donald Travis Wernes; daughter, Megan Leane Hix (Robert); sister, Teddi Paul (Terry); a brother, Rex Barker; and grandchildren, Kaelea and Madylen Hix. Tara was preceded in death by her parents.
A visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday February 27, 2013, at Amos Family Funeral Home. A private family burial will be held Thursday, February 28, 2013, at Buster Cemetery in Oskaloosa, Kansas.
Memorial contributions in Tara's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri 64105.
