Suzanne Virginia (Boland) Fuchs

October 25, 1947 — September 10, 2022

Overland Park

Suzanne Fuchs, 74, passed away on Saturday, September 10th at her home. Suzanne was born to the late Hilary Boland and Clara Boland (Morfeld), on October 25, 1947. She was the first of their seven children to be born in a hospital (quite a big deal in Marshall, MO in those days).

Suzanne was raised in a home that instilled the value of grit, sacrifice, and toughness. Mom was the youngest of seven children, the baby of the family. But she stood true to the phrase ‘nobody puts baby in the corner’. Not a physically imposing person, as a teenager she was a lean string bean, with selfdescribed “knobby knees”. Her words, not ours. She always would tell us how much she dreaded jogging around the track during PE in middle school. Though she was always very proud to point out that she was never last, but second to last!

Mom was much more the intellectual with a knack for numbers and a sharp mind. Suzanne was a studious and disciplined student, especially when she attended Mt. Saint Scholastica University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in mathematics which aided her in becoming one of the first female Computer Programmers at AT&T. It was around this time that she met dad, aka Robert J. Fuchs. Mom & Dad married on July 6th,1974, and lived happily ever after… well for at least 4 years until the twins arrived.

Suzanne was an excellent cook, whose down-home recipes could brighten even the roughest days. She also was a solid seamstress, so much so that she stitched multiple professional quality, yet personally sewn Halloween costumes for us kids. Mom was a strong-minded, no-nonsense person that stood her ground even when it would have been easier to move, but nonetheless, she will always be remembered as someone who strove for and wanted the best for all her children.

She is survived by her husband Robert and their three children Clare Fuchs, Nathan Fuchs, and Devin Fuchs (Jenna) as well as two grandchildren, Sawyer & Lawson Fuchs. As well as her brother Raymond Boland; and sister Alice Kornhaus. She was preceded by four sisters Geraldine, Kathleen (Kitty) Malan Boland, Edith Stephens, and Mary Louise Blair. Services are scheduled for 10:00am on Friday, September 16th at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W 103rd St, Overland Park, KS 66214. A reception will immediately follow services at the same location
