It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Steven "Steve" W. Morton, who left us on June 16, 2026, at the age of 69. Steve passed away peacefully at Overland Park Regional Hospital, surrounded by his beloved family.
Born on August 2, 1956, in Kansas City, Kansas, Steve was dedicated and hardworking throughout his life. He built a successful career in the transportation and warehousing industry, contributing over 25 years of service. In addition, he spent more than 15 years in sales, where he was known for his integrity and dedication.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Steve had a wide range of interests that brought him joy. He was an avid fan of horse racing, tennis, and football. His love for the outdoors was evident in his fondness for boating and fishing, and he cherished time spent on the beaches of Florida. A keen collector, Steve had a passion for antique clocks and a deep appreciation for history.
Those who knew Steve will remember his great sense of humor and the joy he brought into their lives. He had a special bond with his dog, Lexi, who was a constant companion and source of happiness.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, James R. Morton, his mother, Bonnie J. Morton, his brother, Randall J. Morton, and his brother-in-law, Gary Binkerd.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Diane; his son, Ryan; his daughter-in-law, Patty; and his cherished grandsons, Jacob and Sammy. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Susan Reeves, and her husband Wyatt; his sister-in-law, Sandy Binkerd; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.
A memorial service to honor Steve’s life will be held on July 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Amos Family Funeral Home Chapel, located at 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS 66203. Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of a man who touched so many with his warmth, humor, and kindness.
Steve's memory will forever be cherished by those who loved him. May he rest in peace.
