Sharon Marie Finch (Jenkins), 64, Lenexa, Kansas, passed away on May 22 after an eight year battle with metastatic breast cancer.
Sharon was born on December 7, 1957 to John and Janice Jenkins in Kansas City, Kansas. After Sharon graduated from Turner High School in 1975, she started her career at Southwestern Bell.
On February 15, 1981, Sharon and Richard (deceased) married at the Little Chapel of the West in Las Vegas. Sharon and Richard went on to have three children: Allison (Matt) Catsimanes, John (Jane) Finch and Hayley (Kelly) Genschorck. One of the things Sharon treasured most was being a nana to her three grandsons: Landon, Preston and Samuel. They were her pride and joy.
Sharon went on to work at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, now AdventHealth Shawnee Mission for more than 20 years, working in many different roles and in many areas from family practice to endocrinology. Between the numerous patients she cared for, the nurses and doctors she worked along side, Sharon was a well respected and cherished colleague.
After retiring in 2017, Sharon enjoyed spending time with friends and family including a bucket-list trip to Ireland with her dear friend Rhonda Rettig. Other hobbies included traveling, crafting, painting, refinishing furniture, junking in the West Bottoms and going on adventures with lifelong friends Cindy Brull, Paula Fussell, Becky Reed and Sue Rollins. Sharon was always up for a good time but stopped before committing a crime because she said, “she didn’t look good in orange.”
Thank you to Dr. O’Dea, Dr. Carlson, Dr. Ryan, Dr. Ho, Dr. Clark and Becky Moburg for your kindness and compassion. You made all the difference.
