Ronald Bratton

Ronald Dean Bratton, known to all as Ron, passed away on July 18, 2026 at the age of 71. Born on December 15, 1954 in KC but spent his life in Shawnee, KS, the city he loved.

Ron was the proud owner of Bratton Bros Contracting Inc., where he built and repaired more than just buildings-he built a legacy. When Ron wasn't working, which was as rare as the solar eclipse, he found joy in Royals baseball (or any team Byron plays for), Chiefs Football, and Fireworks. Ron collected MANY “treasures”, (though some might call it hoarding) auctions drew him in. He possessed a talent for discussing “quality ideas” IYKYK! His time “mayoring” at Fall River Lake or Friday night at Nick and Jake’s with his crew were favorite pastimes. Ron was a member of the Builder’s Association, Shawnee Chamber of Commerce, and a deeply Proud American. Always the life of the party, Ron had a unique gift for helping everyone around him and dispensing advice - whether you asked for it or not.

Ron was deeply involved in Shawnee sponsoring many events such as Old Shawnee Days and PARKED fireworks. He was always ready to lend a helping hand. Whether coaching Little League for his grandson or giving rousing, if occasionally unsolicited, pep talks, Ron’s presence was larger than life.

What Ron loved most was his family, they were his pride and joy. He was a devoted husband to his “Princess”, Gina Bratton, a loving father to Jessica Hays and Ryan (Abbey) Bratton, cherished “Lil Papa” and best friend to his grandson Byron Hays, and doted on his spoiled cat Frankie. He is also survived by his siblings Judy Christiansen, Sue (Bob) Love, David (Julie) Bratton, Bill Bratton, Paula Raibble, and Karen (Pam) Bratton, along with nieces, nephews, the Henry family, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by parents Peggy and Earl Bratton and his brother Ken.

We invite you to join us for a Celebration of Life at the Shawnee Civic Center, 13817 Johnson Dr, Shawnee, KS, on August 9th, from 1-6 pm. Come ready to share stories, enjoy food and drinks, and honor the unforgettable spirit of a man who never missed an opportunity to make us smile. Story time will be around 3 pm for those that want to share.

Ron lived by the motto “Always help everyone,” and while he may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the laughter and kindness he shared with the world.
