Roger Lee Fox, born on June 10, 1949, in Fort Eustis, Virginia, passed away in early January 2024, in Independence, Missouri, at the age of 74.
Roger had a distinguished career in the Army, serving for 26 years and achieving the level of Sergeant First Class. His dedication and commitment to his country were evident throughout his years of service.
Following his military career, Roger graduated from Manhattan Area Technical College in Manhattan, Kansas.
Roger had a passion for studying military history, specifically World War II and Cold War espionage. He embodied a spirit of curiosity and innovation, always searching for new gadgets to explore. He spent much of his time reading and frequently passed along articles to family, eager to spark conversations and share valuable insights. Above all, Roger took tremendous pride in his role as a grandfather, finding profound joy in the presence and accomplishments of his six grandchildren.
Roger is preceded in death by his father, Bernard Fox, his mother, Addie Martin, and his step-father, William Martin. Roger is survived by his wife of 50 years, Hien Fox; his children, MyHanh (Chris) May and Nathan (Tiffany) Fox; his grandchildren, Joshua May, Jensen May (Isaac) Singer, Jordan May, Jaden Fox, Barron Fox, and Emersyn Fox; his sister, Barbara (Roy) Collins and brother, Russell (Christine) Martin; and several nieces and nephews.
To honor Roger's memory, a memorial service will be held at the Amos Family Funeral Home on Saturday, February 3 at 11:00 am in Shawnee, Kansas. He will be laid to rest at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at Fort Riley in Manhattan, Kansas on Monday, February 5.
Roger will be remembered for his dedication to his country, his love for his family, and his innovative spirit. May he rest in peace, knowing that his legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
