Rodger Brackett

Rodger Lawrence Brackett of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away on August 26, 2026. Rodger was born April 4, 1949, to Guy and Marie Brackett in a three-room farmhouse in Millerstown, Kentucky. He attended Shawnee Mission West and Shawnee Mission South High School, graduating in 1967. His strong work ethic was instilled at an early age through working in his parents’ chicken carry-out restaurants. He then worked 39 years for Roadway Express Trucking, retiring in 2009. He was a member of the International Teamsters and DeSoto Baptist Church, where he served as a longtime trustee.

Rodger was tireless in his devotion to family and friends. He was always ready to help and brought his absolute best to every undertaking, never cutting corners. He rarely missed a family celebration and hosted many throughout the years. He loved Christmas with his family and kept in touch with distant relatives and longtime friends in Kentucky. He cherished these times, all of which gave him great stories to share. His grandchildren were most important to him, attending their various sporting events and activities whenever possible. Rodger was well-known in the car community and a respected member of The National Hot Rod Association. He developed many long-lasting friendships; from car shows to swap meets, to the drag strip.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Linda Brackett. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Jennifer Roth of Shawnee, Kansas; cherished grandchildren, Henry, Kate, and Paige Roth; brother, Wayne Brackett of Grand Rapids, Michigan; sister, Lisa Brackett of Shawnee, Kansas; sister-in-law, Kathy Brackett; and many precious nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 31, from 5:00–8:00 p.m. at Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 1, at 10:00 a.m. at De Soto Baptist Church, with burial at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, Kansas.
