Robert "Rob" M. Wilson, born February 18, 1968, in Shawnee, Kansas, passed away June 13, 2025, at age 57, Rob left behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and passion that inspired all who knew him.
Rob's journey through life was marked by a steadfast love of God and a deep passion for baseball. An outstanding player with an impeccable understanding of the game's strategy, he became a respected figure in Kansas City's baseball community. Whether playing, coaching, or umpiring, Rob's love for baseball was infectious and profound. His expertise and enthusiasm left an indelible mark across the local diamonds.
In addition, Rob cultivated a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. He loved to read, took great pride in maintaining an immaculate yard and garden, where he found peace and fulfillment. His creative spirit shone through his writing and art, leaving glimpses of his thoughtful mind. He deeply valued family, friends, his integrity, and his word. Known for his sense of humor, Rob delighted in elaborate pranks bringing laughter to all. His kind, caring heart touched many lives, always amplified by the warm, genuine smile he wore so easily.
Rob married the love of his life Lisa (Hartman) Wilson. They would have shared their 29th anniversary on August 30, 2025. He also left behind his beloved Doberman, RocKC, that passed just 29 days later.
He is survived by a large, loving family, including his sisters Renee (Howie) Cunningham, Sherry (Jeff) Helmke, Melony Simmons-Farrell, Rhonda (Chris) Houck and Bobbie Jo (Jason) Royer; brothers Jimmy (Leslie) Wilson, Donny (Jesse) Wilson, Kevin Wilson, Ricky (Carol) Cline, Ronnie (Sandy) Cline. Also left to grieve are his mother-in-law, Marilyn Hartman, sisters-in-law Laurie Hartman-Martin (Jeff), Chris Langer, and brother-in-law Greg (Jennifer) Hartman. He was also cherished by aunts, uncles, and 70 nieces and nephews/great-nieces and nephews. All will forever hold his memory close.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Wilson; stepfather, Don Cline; mother, Joyce Lilienthal-Cline, and father-in-law Don Hartman.
Rob's life will be celebrated at a special Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 27th at Mill Creek Community Church, 7825 Gleason Road, Shawnee, KS 66227 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, where family and friends can come together to honor and remember the remarkable man who brought so much joy into their lives.
In honor of Rob, please feel free to wear his favorite color, royal blue, and/or your favorite baseball jersey.
Though Rob may have departed from this world far too soon, his spirit, love of God, kindness, and laughter continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and joy will endure in the hearts of all who loved him. Always look up, he will be the brightest star!
