Robert "Bob" M. Chavez, born March 9, 1948, in Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on August 7, 2026, in Roeland Park, Kansas, at the age of 78.

Bob was a dedicated and hardworking man, sharing his talents across various fields throughout his life. Bob built a distinguished career in life insurance sales and management, where his integrity and compassion left a lasting impact on both colleagues and clients. Later in life, he pursued his entrepreneurial spirit by owning and operating Los Chavez Mexican Restaurant, where he shared his love for food and community with everyone who walked through its doors.

A man guided by faith, Bob took great pleasure in studying Bible Scriptures, finding wisdom and solace in their teachings. He relished the opportunity to discuss and share his insights with everyone he met, leaving a spiritual legacy that touched many. Bob was also an avid sports enthusiast, finding joy in cheering for his beloved Kansas City Chiefs and Royals.

Bob lived 32 beautiful days after his last dialysis treatment, cherishing each moment with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Margaret Chavez; siblings, Roy and Rita; father-in-law, Daniel Villegas; mother-in-law, Amalia Villegas; brothers-in-law, Daniel and Mark Villegas; brother-in-law, Henry Naert; nephew, Mike Naert; and niece, Amber Bledsoe.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Therese, who stood by his side through all of life's joys and challenges. Therese fully followed their sacred vows of marriage, and she cared for him as well as his nurses did through the end of his life. He will be deeply missed by his children, Bobby (Michelle Cole) and Yvette (Mike Ladd); his cherished grandchildren, Dimitri, Misha (Kylie), Zach, Ryun (Xandria), Izabel (Camila), Caleb (Jaylan), Sam, and Blake; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Bob's family would like to thank his care givers at the Infusion Clinic of Advent Health Shawnee Mission Hospital, Johnson County Rehabilitation Hospital, and the following Faith Home Health and Hospice Care providers: Angie, Ruben, Chaplain John, and staff members.
