Rebecca (Becky) Marie Campbell was born on March 2, 1962, in Shawnee, Kansas, to John and Florence Campbell. She was the oldest of two daughters and a beloved niece and cousin to many.

Becky attended Saint Joseph Grade School before transferring to a school closer to her family’s home prior to third grade. She graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest High School in 1980 and went on to attend Johnson County Community College, where she developed an interest in banking and accounting.

During her time in college, Becky met Brent through a family connection—her Aunt Joy, who was serving as a house mother at Brent’s fraternity. Not long after, Brent invited her to meet his grandmother in Lucas, Kansas, and attend the Czech Festival in nearby Wilson. During that memorable trip, Becky visited the Garden of Eden and famously beat Brent in a game of pool at a local bar, captivating him with her impish smile, infectious laugh, and a hint of a Southern drawl after a beer or two. Not long after, Becky transferred to Pittsburg State University to be closer to Brent, beginning the next chapter of their life together.

Becky and Brent were married on June 14, 1985, after purchasing their first home together in Roeland Park a few months prior. Becky worked as a banker while Brent attended medical school. In 1988, they welcomed their first son, Jonathan, during the early months of Brent’s residency. Their second son, David, was born in 1990 while they were still living in Roeland Park.

In 1991, the family moved to Tarkio, Missouri, where they planted roots and built a home to raise their family. Their youngest son, Nicholas, was born in 1992. During their time in Tarkio, Becky planted hundreds of walnut trees on their property, trees that have grown strong and will continue to flourish for generations, much like the family and community she nurtured. It was also in Tarkio where each of her boys began to discover their interests and passions. Jonathan developed a love of aviation while flying remote control model planes. David helped care for the family’s chickens and showed an early entrepreneurial spirit by selling eggs. Nicholas became an avid fisherman, and there was rarely a fish he couldn’t catch.

In 2000, the family moved to Emporia, Kansas, where Brent continued his medical practice and the boys completed their schooling. Becky devoted herself fully to her family, embracing her roles as a mother, wife, and eventually grandmother. She was a constant and steady presence, always there to support her sons in their activities. If she ever missed a game or event, it was only because she was cheering on another child elsewhere. Rain or shine, she showed up prepared, making sure her boys had everything they needed. Her love was unconditional, and her chocolate chip cookies were unmatched.

Becky shared a unique and special bond with each of her sons. She cherished her frequent phone calls with Jonathan, always eager to hear about his travels and faithfully tracking the tail numbers of his flights so she could follow along on his journeys. With David, she was especially grateful for the unexpected gift of time during the COVID years, when he worked from her home. Those days allowed her to witness firsthand his dedication and success, and she took great pride in watching him thrive in his profession. With Nicholas, she found joy in life’s quieter moments—painting pottery together, relaxing side by side, and simply enjoying each other’s company. Each relationship was different, but all were rooted in deep love, pride, and connection.

In 2013, David married Sarah. After completing law school, David and Sarah moved to the Kansas City area, which later inspired Becky and Brent to relocate to be closer to family. Becky found immense joy in her role as “Gigi” to their three children, Lindsey, Luke, and Levi. She delighted in spending time with them—sharing crafts, painting, making ornaments, and creating lasting memories. She loved spoiling them with thoughtful gifts, but most of all cherished the simple moments, like driving them to school. One of their special traditions was rolling down the windows when passing the waterfalls in her neighborhood, pausing to listen to the sound of the flowing water. Those moments will remain a lasting memory, and her grandchildren will forever think of their Gigi whenever they hear the sound of waterfalls.

Becky embraced life’s adventures and passions with enthusiasm. Becky was frequently called for jury duty, and with her practical judgment and steady common sense, she was known for helping reach thoughtful—and often swift—verdicts. Not many can say they biked across Kansas—Becky did it seven times. She loved biking, quilting, reading, and spending time outdoors. Becky was a graceful and confident skier who brought joy to many family ski trips over the years. She regularly attended quilting workshops and retreats, creating many beautiful and meaningful pieces. Her favorite place to be was on a sunny beach. She had a deep love for the ocean, especially sea turtles, which brought her great joy.

Becky also treasured time spent traveling. She visited the beaches of Florida with her dear friend Gini and, in later years, enjoyed trips with Brent to many beautiful destinations, including Alaska, the Blue Ridge Mountains, St. Louis, Nashville, Yellowstone, Mackinac Island, the redwoods of Northern California, Crater Lake, and Seattle.

Faith was an important part of Becky’s life. During their years in Tarkio, she and Brent deepened their commitment and became actively involved in Bible studies alongside Rob Winger and other pastors, strengthening their spiritual foundation and community.

One of Becky’s favorite hymns was “I’ll Fly Away,” and she had expressed her wish for it to be played when her time came. In the words of that beloved hymn, we take comfort in knowing that she has found peace and freedom; she flew home on March 25, 2026.

She is preceded in death by her father, John Campbell. Survivors include her husband Brent, sons Jonathan, David (Sarah), Nicholas, mother Florence Campbell, sister Paula (Steve) Stutheit, and grandchildren include Lindsey, Luke, and Levi Hrabik.
