Nazar Polus Goro, a cherished husband, father, and esteemed member of the community, passed away peacefully with his family beside him on November 12, 2025, in Lees Summit, Missouri, at the age of 62. Born on February 14, 1963, in Baghdad, Iraq, Nazar was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many with his warmth, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
As a devoted business owner, Nazar was known not only for his entrepreneurial spirit but also for his compassionate leadership. He was a caring boss who valued and supported his employees, earning their respect and admiration throughout his career.
Nazar had a passion for sports, particularly soccer, and was an avid follower of both local and international teams. His interests extended to history, geography, and pop culture, reflecting his curious and vibrant personality. The night before his passing, he was surrounded by immediate and extended family, as they all watched Dancing with the Stars and he correctly predicted the judges scores, which he did weekly when the show was airing. As a committed church member, he was actively involved in his religious community, where his faith and kindness inspired those around him.
Preceded in death by his beloved parents, Juwane Lazar Oshana and Polus Goro, his maternal grandparents, Lazar and Sabria, and his paternal grandparents, Farida and Goro. Nazar leaves behind a legacy of love and strength. He is survived by his devoted wife Wafa Goro, his beloved daughter Joanna Goro, and his adoring sons Angelo and George Goro, all of whom appreciate the life he was able to provide them and will miss him dearly. He also leaves behind his younger siblings—Nazhat, Shamiran, Jenfiaf, Saher, Ziad, Salah, and Isam—who will forever cherish their memories of him and the sacrifices he made for them. Along with an extensive extended family that felt his love greatly.
Nazar was not only an amazing father and husband but also a beloved community member whose presence will be deeply missed. His life was a testament to the values of family, faith, and community service, and his memory will be treasured by all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Friday, November 14th from 5 to 7pm at the Amos Family Funeral Home, located at 10901 Johnson Dr, Shawnee, KS 66203. A Mass honoring Nazar's life will be held at Saint Mary & Saint Mark Coptic Orthodox Church of Kansas City at 10:00 am on Saturday, followed by his burial at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery at 11:30 am. After the burial, a memorial service will take place at Saint Mary & Saint Mark Coptic Orthodox Church of Kansas City.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of choice in Nazar's memory, celebrating his spirit of generosity and community support. May he rest in peace, forever loved and remembered by all who were fortunate to know him.
