With profound sadness, we announce that Mia Nicole Dougherty, age 33, entered into the loving arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ, on July 31, 2026. Born on April 27, 1993, in Bloomington, Illinois, Mia made her home in Raytown, Missouri, where she built a life centered on faith, family, friendship, and service to others.

Mia was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Noah, and her grandmother, Marcella Hartung.

She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, Caleb Dougherty; her cherished son, Lincoln Dougherty; her parents, Dennis and Betsy Hartung; her sister, Bailey Hartung; and her niece and nephew, Everlyn and Nash, along with many extended family members, dear friends, and countless lives she touched.

Mia had an incredible passion for running and found great joy in the friendships she built through the Kansas City and Lawrence running communities. Whether training for races or encouraging fellow runners, she inspired those around her with her determination, kindness, and infectious smile.

Another of Mia’s lifelong passions was softball. Beginning her umpiring career at just 16 years old, she dedicated many years to the sport and earned the opportunity to officiate numerous national tournaments. She was deeply respected for her professionalism, integrity, and love of the game.

Above all else, Mia’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a treasured daughter and sister, and a loyal friend. Her beauty radiated far beyond her appearance—it was reflected in her generous heart, her joyful spirit, and the genuine love she shared with everyone she met. Mia had a remarkable way of making people feel seen, welcomed, and valued. She was truly a joy to behold, and her vibrant presence will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.

Mia’s Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shawnee, Kansas, and found strength, hope, and peace through her relationship with Christ.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mia’s life during a visitation on Thursday, August 6, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, KS 66203. A Rosary will be prayed from 5:00 p.m. to 5:20 p.m. to begin the visitation. Those who wish to share memories or speak in honor of Mia are warmly welcomed to do so during the visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 7, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, KS 66203. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to assist with funeral expenses, medical bills, and to support Mia’s family during this difficult time. Contributions may be made through the family’s GoFundMe campaign at: https://gofund.me/6e174c3b7.

Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that Mia now rests in the eternal peace of our Lord. Until we meet again, Mia, you will forever be missed, forever loved, and forever remembered.
