Melissa Macdonald

Melissa MacDonald, 49, of Bonner Springs, KS passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019.

Melissa was born on March 28, 1970 to Michael S. Sopko and Linda (Lynn) K Griffin-Sopko in Merriam, KS.  She was a graduate of Shawnee Mission Northwest High School in 1988. She attended UMKC with a music scholarship.

She was preceded in death by her father, Michael S. Sopko; paternal grandparents, Mike and Stella Sopko; maternal grandparents, Genna G. Ellis-Lubbe, James Griffin Jr., maternal step-grandparents, Norman and Jean Walters.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth MacDonald; mother, Linda K Sopko; sister, Lisa Jean Sopko-Fogarty and husband Kevin Fogarty; brother, Michael A. Sopko; aunt, Robbin McGuire.

Melissa was a long time member and board member of Beak and Wings bird shelter. She was an avid animal lover and pleased to attain a large yard for goats and chickens. Melissa had a love of baking and enjoyed sharing food.

A visitation will be from 5:00-8:30, Friday, December 20, 2019 at Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS 66203. Interment will be 12:00 pm, Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery  at the Holy Family Mausoleum, 83rd Street and Quivira  Road, Lenexa, KS. (913) 371-4040.
