Mary Leslie Dover, 81, of Overland Park, Kansas made her transition December 17, 2020.
Mary was born September 12, 1939 in Lathrop, Missouri to George Leslie Joy (Doc) and Froncie Joy. She is the youngest sister to Ellen Joy and Bonnie Hamilton.
Mary graduated from Paseo High School in 1957. She married William Clark Lusk in June of 1960. She has two children Jennifer Lusk and Steven (Sol) Lusk. She married her second husband Bob Dover in 1978 and has two step children, Joseph Robert Dover and Dana Ann Simmons. Mary has 5 grandchildren, Timmothy Doolittle, Matthew Puerner, John Puerner, Cameron Lusk and Georgia Lusk.
After having children, she was very involved as a stay-at-home mom. She was very active in attending her children's activities and sporting events. In addition to her two children, she also cared for 3 foster children. She also enjoyed looking after the family pets.
Mary, also, was a working mother, working as the financial aid director at Johnson County Community College for many years before putting herself through college. Upon graduating in 1985, she was finally given the official title of Director. She was the director for 25 years before retiring. She was very proud of her accomplishments.
Mary loved watching football and baseball. She held season tickets to the Chiefs for ten years straight. She liked tending to her garden and spending time with her beloved dog Milo.
Mary was a very active member in the Unity Church of Overland Park. She had a deep faith and connection to God.
She will be remembered as a very positive and joyful person. Integrity, honesty and truthfulness were very important to her. She was intelligent, giving, loving and had a great sense of humor. Mary was very dedicated to those she was helping. She expressed later in life how lucky she was to have lived such a blessed life.
Mary will be greatly missed.
