Mary Louise Dothage, born on September 29, 1943, in Washington, Missouri, passed away peacefully from natural causes on March 17, 2026, in Overland Park, Kansas, at the age of 82.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Wayne Dothage, her cherished daughter, Elizabeth Martin, and her adored grandchildren, Ashley Martin and Nathan Martin. She also leaves behind her loving brother, William Jasper, sisters-in-law Susie Merriett (Ed Merriett) and Sandy Liechti (Paul Liechti), as well as many relatives, friends and her beloved cat, Libby.
A proud graduate of Washington High School, Mary furthered her education at Southeast Missouri State University earning a Bachelor of Science in Music Eduation. Her professional life was varied and rich, including roles as a music teacher, secretary, and cherished positions at Hallmark and JC Penney. At Hallmark, she was known for her warm, attentive service, always ready with a smile to assist customers in selecting (and collecting) the perfect ornament or gift.

In her leisure time, Mary found happiness in cross-stitching, crocheting, reading, and playing games. She was a devoted member of the Lenexa United Methodist Church and the Royal Neighbors of America, where she made lasting friendships and contributed her compassionate spirit.
Mary's love for her family was evident in all aspects of her life. She dedicated her time watching her daughter play high school softball and basketball games, which she attended with unwavering support. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren, eagerly picking them up from school, assisting with their homework, and cheering them on at football and gymnastics events.
Mary and her husband, Wayne, shared a love of travel, exploring destinations such as Germany, Hawaii, and the Caribbean. Each summer, they looked forward to visiting Door County, Wisconsin, a tradition that brought them great joy and countless treasured memories.
Mary will be remembered for her cheerful demeanor, her generous spirit, and her unwavering love for her family and friends. Her warm smile and kindness touched everyone she met.
A celebration of Mary's life will be held at a later date, allowing family and friends to gather and honor her memory.
