Virginia (Ginny) Brandt, 91, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in St. Joseph, MO, she attended The Convent of the Sacred Heart and Creighton University. She was married to her husband, Robert Eugene Brandt, Sr., for more than 50 years. Virginia was devoted to her Catholic faith and served as Chairman of the St. Ann’s Blood Drive for many years. She regularly volunteered as a girl scout leader and spent countless afternoons at 3&2 Baseball Park enthusiastically cheering on her sons. She loved attending sporting events and gardening. She was an avid reader and founder of the Ash Street Book Club.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Robert Brandt, Sr., parents David and Marjorie Hartigan and brothers Colonel David E. Hartigan, Jr. and Dr. John Hartigan. She is survived by her brother William Hartigan (Charlotte), six children: Robert, Jr. (Theresa), Dana Maxwell (Fred), William, Thomas (Patty), Timothy (Stacey), David (Tonja), as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and other beloved family members and friends.
Virginia’s family gratefully acknowledges the outstanding compassion and care provided by Heartland Hospice.
The visitation will be held at Amos Funeral Home in Shawnee, Kansas from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, February 8th, 2022, with a Rosary beginning at 5:00. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in memory of Virginia at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Prairie Village, KS at 10:00 am, Wednesday, February 9th, 2022. Graveside services will follow Mass and take place at Resurrection Cemetery.
