Marvin C. Schultz, 85, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2026, in Kansas City, KS, due to complications from a stroke.

Born on June 5, 1941, in Colby, KS, Marvin’s life was full and varied. He was known and loved by hundreds of people who were very important to him.

After a highly successful 30-year career at IBM, Marvin embraced “retirement” by becoming a ski instructor in his beloved Colorado mountains. He also launched a handyman business.

But if you ask anyone who knew him, his greatest accomplishment was becoming the Best Papa Ever.

Spoiling his grandchildren ranked right up there with his love for traveling, skiing (both snow and water), golf, and camping adventures.

Marvin was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia (Ramsey) Schultz; his parents, Chris and Jane Schultz; sister Betty Godfrey; and grandson Nick Auch.

He leaves behind his loving wife Silvia Schultz; daughter Joey (Lauretta) Schultz and her wife Lauren Ezell; son Chris Lynn Schultz and his wife Courtney; grandchildren Jessica and Jason McMillen, Ramsey (Schultz) Rubin and her husband Griffin Rubin, McKenzie (Schultz) Janicek and her husband Luke Janicek, Lauren and Joey's daughter Mackenzie Auch; and three great-grandchildren: Orrora, Dimitri and Naomi.

Silvia's family members accepted Marvin fully into their family and loved him from the very beginning. This includes her son, Sergio Norberto Arévalo Rodríguez, who has two children: Sergio Alexander Arévalo and Paola Míchel Arévalo; daughter Silvia Carmina Reyes and her husband Julio Iván Reyes. They have three children: Ivan Ernesto Reyes, Julio Enilson Reyes, and Leonardo Reyes; and one great-grandson: Mateo.

There is also a very connected constellation of extended family members and close friends, all of whom were touched by his kindness and humor.

Services to celebrate Marvin’s remarkable life will be held on November 5, 2026, at 2:30 pm at Southminster Presbyterian Church in Roeland Park, KS, with burial following on November 6, 2026, at 1 pm at Colby Cemetery District 1 in Colby, KS.
