Marvin used his G.I. Bill to attend barber college and was a barber for over 50 years. He owned a very successful barber shop in Merriam, KS called Marv’s Barbershop. He never met a stranger and loved going to work every single day.

Marvin had a passion for horses, Ford trucks, Corvettes and traveling to Mexico every February with his wife. He had a great love for his family and his faith. He served as an usher at St. Joseph Catholic Church for many years.

In December 2020 during the Covid pandemic, Marvin survived a 30 day stay in ICU due to Covid complications. The family thanks Dr. Nial Castle for his recovery.

In September 2023 during his hospital stay for severe congestive heart failure at The University of Kansas Medical Center, Marvin was diagnosed with Primary Myelofibrosis, a blood cancer of the bone marrow, caused from his time in Vietnam from agent orange.  With the help of Dr. Tarun Dalia he survived his stay in the hospital and returned home to be with his family in his final days.
