Mark Howard Higginbotham

Mark Higginbotham, a cherished father, brother, husband and friend, passed away at home on July 24, 2026, in Overland Park, Kansas. Born on June 20, 1957, in Missouri, he graced this world with 69 years of a life well-lived.

Mark dedicated his professional career to the field of information technology, where he excelled as a Senior Consultant for Grid Technology and as an IT Systems Engineer. His expertise was renowned across numerous IT departments. He held several certifications, including CompTIA A+ and was revered as a mentor to generations of technicians. Mark "was an expert troubleshooter that could figure out challenges that many others could not."

Outside of his professional life, Mark had a deep love for photography, capturing the beauty of nature and birds through his unique way of seeing the world. His talent for enhancing photographs brought out their very best. He had a unique passion for collecting flashlights of all kinds and took delight in showcasing and giving them away. Mark also enjoyed biking, walks in the park, taking leisurely drives and meticulously maintaining his lawn and home. His greatest joy came from spending time with his beloved family, including the family dogs, and engaging in activities with his friends from work.

Mark's intelligence and success were matched by his incredible kindness and calm, loving demeanor. His family was the most important thing in his life. He was an incredible father who always supported his family and had a major impact on his daughters' lives. His quick wit could always bring a smile or laughter, endearing him to everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.

Preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Frances Higginbotham, Mark is survived by his wife, Teri Higginbotham; daughters, Cassandra and Kayla Higginbotham; and brothers, Chris and John Higginbotham. His legacy of love, humor, and wisdom will forever be treasured by those who knew him.

A funeral service to honor Mark's life will be held on Saturday, August 8th, 2026, at Amos Family Funeral Home, located at 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS 66203. Visitation will commence at 10:00 AM, followed by the service at 11:00 AM.

Mark Higginbothams' life was full of love and service to others. He was a man of high discipline with a passion for researching and deeply delving into many areas of his life that were important to him. He loved to share his knowledge with others and was not only a wonderful conversationalist, but a great listener. He will be deeply missed and kindly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
