Maddie Hajduch

Madeline "Maddie" Marie Hajduch, known affectionately as "Patch" to those closest to her, was called to heaven unexpectedly in her sleep on Sunday, September 6, 2026, in Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of 26.

Born on November 17, 1999, in Indiana, Maddie was the cherished firstborn of Margaret and David Hajduch. From her earliest days, she was a vibrant, undeniable presence; a powerful force who made an immediate and lasting impression on everyone in her life. Her childhood years carried her through Freedom Elementary, Heritage Grove Middle School, and Plainfield North High School in Illinois, before graduating from Shawnee Mission West High School in Overland Park, Kansas, in 2018.

Maddie possessed an innate calling to help others, a deep empathy, love, and sense of advocacy that naturally led her to the nursing profession. She graduated from Kansas City Kansas Community College in 2023 as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and soon found her true vocation in hospice care. She spread her love and devotion in Med Surgical, PACU, and women’s medicine. Maddie was a steady light, offering comfort and grace to individuals and families navigating their difficult, life-changing moments. Beyond her career, and most importantly, she was a fierce, unwavering advocate for women’s health, never hesitating to use her voice to stand up for what was “Just/Deservered” treatment. She was currently in the process of “making changes” in our current healthcare systems.

Maddie found joy in simple, beautiful things: crafting, trips to Disney World, sharing quiet moments with her beloved cat Molly, and spending time with her family and her boyfriend, Cole. Most significantly, she carried and shared hope. Maddie, “choose every day to live happily and meet whatever comes next without fear”. 

Although her time with us was far too short, the impact she made on the people’s hearts around her is undying. “Patch’s love, valor, and irreplaceable presence” leave a legacy that time cannot dim, a Legacy for all to follow. She would want everyone to stay connected with family, appreciate every sunset, dance often, and navigate through troubled times knowing everything is temporary (Good & Bad). Embrace every breath.

Maddie is survived by her loving parents, Margaret and David Hajduch; her brother, Jacob; her sister, Reagan; her boyfriend, Cole Glasgow (parents Carrie & Todd); and a large, loving family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Emily Danko, Paul Danko, Norma Hajduch, and David Hajduch; her aunts, Tricia Knight and Therese Hajduch; her uncle, Patrick "Pat" Knight; and other cherished relatives who welcomed her home.
