Lowell Scott, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025, in Olathe, Kansas, at the age of 93. Born on July 21, 1931, in Kansas City, Missouri, Lowell's life was a testament to kindness, encouragement, and a deep commitment to helping others realize their fullest potential.
Throughout his life, Lowell was not only a man of diverse talents but also a steadfast supporter of those around him. Whether it was through his dedicated service as a Postal worker for over 35 years, his passion for gardening, or his dedication to various hobbies, he approached each endeavor with a spirit of adventure. He believed in the power of exploration and always urged others to pursue their interests, offering guidance and unwavering support along the way.
Lowell's encouragement extended beyond words; he led by example. His gardens, flourished with vibrant roses, mirroring the growth he nurtured in others. His involvement in the Kansas City Bicycle Club was not just about cycling; it was about fostering a community where individuals could challenge themselves and thrive. As a member of the German Shepherd Dog Club of Kansas City, he shared his knowledge and passion, inspiring others to appreciate and care for these majestic animals.
An accomplished photographer, Lowell captured life's moments with an artist's eye, always eager to share his perspective and inspire others to see the world through a different lens. His love for reading was not just a personal joy but a means to connect with others, often recommending books that sparked thoughtful discussions and new ideas.
A Sergeant in the Marine Corps, Lowell's service was marked by courage and dedication. His medals, including the Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal, reflect a life devoted to duty and honor.
Preceded in death by his loving wife Joan Scott, his daughter Sherie Schantz, his father Edward Scott, his mother Mary Alletta Scott (Briant), and his sister Mary Anderson, Lowell leaves behind a legacy of love, encouragement, and resilience.
He is survived by his brother James, his daughter Alletta, grandchildren Gabe, Eric, John, Michael (Lindsey), Caitlin (Seth), and Sarah (Kevin), and great-grandchildren Jack, Taylor, Riley, Isaac, Juliana, Matthew, Mason, Elijah, Nicholas, Eliana, and great-great grandson Hudson along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate Lowell's remarkable life will be held at Amos Family Funeral Home, with visitation at 10 AM and a service at 11 AM. Burial will follow at 2 PM at Floral Hills, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, Missouri 64133. For those that can not attend Lowell's service it will be Live Streamed. The link is below.
