Loren Gilbert Sommer, 89, of Merriam, KS, passed away on Jan. 8, 2017. He was born on Aug. 20, 1927, in Cosby, Mo, to Carl and Elma (Stuber) Sommer. Loren is preceded in death by his first wife, Lois I. Sommer; brother, Norman Sommer; sister, Metta Schmidt. He is survived by wife, Ruth Ann Unruh; daughters, Debbie (Mike) Zimmerman, Cindy (Kent) Martens; sister, Helen (Harry) Cornelius; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; along with step-children and their families.
Celebration of life will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at Southminster Presbyterian Church at 63rd and Roe in Prairie Village.
