Lois “GG” Higgins, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully from natural causes on March 6, 2026, in Leawood, Kansas. Born on January 29, 1926, in El Reno, Oklahoma, she graced this world with her presence for a remarkable 100 years.

Lois led a fulfilling life marked by love, dedication and enthusiasm. She was united in marriage to Jim Higgins on February 14, 1949 and they shared 58 years together. Known for her sharp mind and compassionate heart, she worked as a legal secretary, where her attention to detail and professionalism were admired by all. Beyond her professional life, Lois was deeply devoted to her faith and community, serving as a Sunday school teacher and imparting wisdom and kindness to younger generations.

An avid lover of life, Lois embraced adventure with open arms. She learned to ski at the age of 40 and was often found gliding across the ice or dancing the jitterbug with infectious joy. Her pursuits were not limited by age as she took up learning Spanish later in life – a testament to her enduring curiosity and zest for growth.

Lois was a member of NALS and devoted her life to her family, whom she held dear. Her legacy as the Best Mother and Wonderful Grandmother and Great-Grandmother will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Preceded in death by her loving husband, James H. Higgins, her parents, Helen and Tom Henderson, and her brothers, Paul and Harold Henderson, Lois leaves behind a family that adored her. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Teri Miller, and son-in-law, Don. Her loving spirit continues through her grandchildren, Bryan Homer, Andrew Homer, and his wife Melissa, Jeff Miller, his wife Rachael, and Amy Erwin, as well as her great-grandchildren, Ella Roland, Millie and James Homer.

A celebration of Lois’s extraordinary life will be held on April 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Covenant Church. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a remarkable woman who touched so many lives with her warmth and grace. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Lois’s memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting her generous spirit and commitment to making the world a better place. Her centennial journey was filled with love, laughter and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her
