Larry Lee Lynch, 74, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away on September 5, 2023. Larry was born on June 28, 1949, in Hugoton, Kansas. Larry was a kind, patient, and gentle soul who led his family by the way he lived, but more importantly, by the way he loved. Larry had a nurturing spirit, a quietly silly sense of humor, a love for working with his hands, and a passion for music.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Denise Lynch, and their children Kelly Lynch, Casey Lynch, and Courtney Semrau. He is also survived by his brother Robert Lynch, sister Vicki Hamilton, and his daughters-in-law Kasey Lynch and Megan Lynch. Larry's son-in-law Nicholas Semrau, as well as his grandchildren Mason Lynch, Rylee Lynch, Ray Lynch, Zander Semrau, Jack Semrau, Tyler Lynch, and Ryan Lynch, will cherish his memory.
Larry was proud of his service in the U.S. Air Force and of the values this service instilled in him. After his military career, Larry worked as a loyal manufacturing supervisor at Honeywell, where he made significant contributions over decades.
After retirement, Larry continued to invest in his personal growth by steadfastly pursuing and obtaining his PhD. Ever the servant, he immediately put this degree and his decades of practical experience to use by teaching university courses in Lean Manufacturing. Larry even had the privilege of living in and teaching students in China for a few years, and he was very proud of the time he spent there.
In his free time, Larry enjoyed indulging his passion for gardening. It brought him great joy to work hand-in-hand with Denise to plan, nurture, and witness their expansive gardens flourish. Anyone who visited their home and were graced with a tour of their breathtaking yard had the pleasure of seeing Larry’s lovingly crafted gnome village that became more elaborate and complex as he built and expanded it over the years.
Larry found solace in his faith and was a member of the Church of the Resurrection. His strong belief provided him with guidance and comfort throughout his life.
A funeral service for Larry will be held at the Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee, KS, on Saturday, September 9th at 10:00 am, followed by a graveside service at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, KS.
