Jyotsna “Baby” Garg, a caring wife, mother, sister, and friend passed away on May 25, 2022, at the age of 59 after a 5-year courageous battle with colon cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Jyotsna completed her bachelor’s degree at Punjabi University, master’s degree at Punjab Agricultural University, and went on to earn her PhD in the field of biochemistry at Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER). It was at PGIMER that Jyotsna met and fell and love with her husband, Uttam Garg. Together, they had Megha, Mohini, and of course, their favorite furry child, Romy.
Jyotsna was beloved in toxicology at Quest Diagnostics for over 22 years. While Jyotsna found pride in her job, her true passions were gardening, music, art, yoga, and community service. Friends and family have always joked that Uttam and Jyotsna’s home also became the community’s home as they would routinely teach yoga, host karaoke nights, and raise money for M.U.F.F.I.N. (Mother United for Families in Need) by hosting Zen Garden workshops. She had an uncanny ability to find happiness in even the smallest things in life, and her enthusiasm for life was contagious to everyone she met.
Jyotsna is survived by her husband, Uttam; daughters, Megha and Mohini; sons, Yafeez and Romy; brothers, Sudhakar and Rajinder; sisters, Vandana, Neerja, and Shallu; nieces: Surabhi and Tanwi; and nephews: Abhinav and Ritvaj.
