Joyce Marie Morgan

Joyce Marie Morgan, 89, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026, in Shawnee.

Joyce was born November 11, 1936, in her hometown of Glasgow, Missouri, the third of four children born to Francis Lee Conran (1906–1988) and Dorothy E. (Hackley) Conran (1914–1980). She graduated from Lillis High School in 1954. In 1956, she married Thomas R. Morgan, and they remained married until 1981.

Joyce later earned her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Avila University. She worked at United Missouri Bank and for a local tax accounting firm before retiring in the 1990s.

A devout Catholic, Joyce’s faith was an important part of her life. She enjoyed sewing, reading, spending time with friends and family, and especially being involved in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved taking her grandchildren to movies, hosting sleepovers at her home, attending their youth sporting events, and sharing countless outings and everyday adventures with them. Her family was a source of great joy throughout her life.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Dorothy Conran; her younger sister, Judy Suttner; her brother, John Conran; and her daughters, Rebecca Dowell and Anne Morgan. Her sister, Shirley Parrott, passed away just two days after Joyce.

She is survived by her daughter, Gina Breiland and her husband, Greg, of Chicago, Illinois; her son, Chris Morgan and his wife, Donna, of Parkville, Missouri; her grandchildren, Amanda Herrington-O’Leary and her husband, Patrick, of Eugene, Oregon; Stephen Dowell and his wife, Sarah, of Lenexa, Kansas; Sharon Hoefer and her husband, Nathan, of Chicago, Illinois; Tawnya Bettis and her husband, Kalob, of Basehor, Kansas; Nicholas Morgan and his fiancée, Cheyenne Bledsoe, of Liberty, Missouri; and Michael Morgan of Kansas City, Missouri; and her step-grandchildren, Logan Perrin and her husband, Corbin; Peyton Perrin; Haley Perrin; and Aidan Perrin, all of the Kansas City area. She is also survived by her four great-grandchildren, Wesley, Marshall, Elliott, and Gus.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 13th, with the Rosary at 7:45 p.m., at Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee, Kansas. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 14th at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Overland Park, Kansas. A luncheon will follow in the church. A graveside service will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Shawnee, Kansas following the luncheon.
