**Joshua "Wingnut" George Barraclough: A Life Full of Adventure and Wrenches**
Merriam, Kansas lost one of its most colorful characters on April 2, 2026, when Joshua "Wingnut" George Barraclough decided to take his final road trip. Born on November 22, 1982, this 43-year-old was a true Kansas original who preferred grease on his hands rather than a shirt and tie.
From tinkering with engines to exploring the open road, Wingnut lived life in the fast lane. He spent his days as a mechanic, working for A&K Railroad Materials, where he became as much of a fixture as the trains themselves. His love for locomotives extended beyond the shop, as he often frequented Union Station, though rumor has it that he sometimes confused the train schedule with his own social calendar.
When he wasn't elbow-deep in an engine or hanging around Union Station, you could find him conquering the roads on his beloved motorcycles or tantalizingly close to catching the big one during his fishing escapades. Known for his sense of adventure, Joshua enjoyed playing pool with a competitiveness matched only by his love for exploring new horizons.
Joshua is preceded in death by his grandparents, Virgil and Mary Marchand, and his stepfather, John Cornish. He leaves behind a loving family, including his wife Shelly Wade, his mother Jo Ellen and stepfather David Dyche, his Aunt Karen Marchand, his son Kaleb Patton (and Olivia), his daughter Stella Barraclough (and Quinten), and his grandson Archer Robinette. Let’s not forget the many others who were charmed by his infectious spirit and lively tales.
While Joshua may have traded his workshop for the great unknown, his legacy will continue through shared stories, laughter, and the occasional oil stain left in just the right spot. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his adventurous life on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Amos Family Funeral Home 10901 Johnson Drive Shawnee, Kansas 66202.
Rest easy, Wingnut—may your next adventure be just as thrilling as the last
