Jo Martan "Marty" M. Heary

Jo Martan “Marty” M. Heary, 89, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026. 

Marty was born in Columbia, MO and lived in Merriam, KS for over 60 years. She was married in 1958 to Robert L. Heary who passed away in 1982. She worked as a standards librarian for Black & Veatch for many years before retirement. She enjoyed boating and camping for many years at Pomme de Terre Lake with her children and many trips and vacations with her partner and companion of 35 years, Gene Skeens.

She is survived by her son Kevin Heary (and Janet) of Paola, Kansas and daughter, Laura Heary of Kansas City, MO, and her partner Gean Skeens of Merriam, KS. Along with his children, Carole (and Terry) Davis of Lebanon, TN and Greg (and Laura) Skeens of Bloomington, IN and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A private burial will be held by the family.
