Jeffrey A. Perry

September 10, 1985 — January 17, 2024

Kansas City

Jeffrey Allen Perry, 38, of Kansas City, Kansas, formerly of Shawnee, KS, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at his home.

Jeff was born on September 10, 1985, in Merriam, Kansas, to Lawrence and Beverly (Busse) Perry.  Jeff graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest High School in 2004.  Jeff worked for several years in the lawn care industry with his uncle, worked as a security guard at an assisted living facility and, most recently, as a groundskeeper/make ready technician at a metro apartment complex.

Jeff loved and participated in several different sports from kindergarten through his senior year of high school, including football and soccer.  However, his true passions were baseball and basketball.  He played on SMNW basketball team all four years of high school.  Once he graduated high school and no longer participated in team sports, he turned his attention to music.  He frequently organized and put on shows for local talent, usually at the Riot Room.  He also did some rapping and, to our surprise, was quite good.  He played the guitar and was constantly listening to music.  Some of his favorite bands included Tool, The Grateful Dead and the Beatles.  His pets brought him much joy and went everywhere with him, including work -- they were his “kids.”

Jeff brought us much joy in his 38 years, and it’s those times that we will hold close to our heart.  Under the tough exterior was a beautiful soul and very kind heart.  We never doubted Jeff’s love for us.

Survivors include his parents, Larry and Bev; one brother, Jason Perry; and one sister and brother-in-law, Emily (Perry) Kelly and Brian Kelly.  He was also survived by his uncles, Ron Busse and wife Sally, and Ron Perry and wife, Lisa; several cousins and his close friends.  Jeff was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ralph and Barbara Busse and Ronald Perry and Patsy Lee; his uncle, Bruce Busse; and his uncle, Michael Perry.

Services will be held at Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS 66203, on Thursday, January 25, 2024, with a visitation at 4:00 PM and a memorial service to follow at 5:00 PM.
