With profound sadness, we share the passing of our father, Jarnail Gill, who left us on Friday, November 28th. To us, he was the heart of our family, a man whose strength, humor, and generosity shaped our lives in ways we will carry forever.
Dad was born in Dhamai, Punjab, and began his life in America with nothing but determination and an unwavering belief in building something better for his family. He lived in several places across the United States before eventually making Kansas City his home. Everywhere he went, he formed deep friendships, his warmth, loyalty, and charming personality made him unforgettable. Whether someone knew him for a day or for decades, Dad had a way of making people feel welcomed, seen, and valued.
He embraced both the traditions of his Sikh heritage and the opportunities of his life in America. A natural entrepreneur, he poured his energy into starting multiple small businesses. His work ethic was fierce, but he never lost his love of enjoying life along the way.
Dad loved traveling, especially trips to Vegas where he would indulge in his favorite pastimes, good food, a bit of gambling, and the thrill of being somewhere lively. He was a proud Kansas City Chiefs fan, a lover of a perfectly cooked steak, and nothing made him smile quite like his dog Rolo and his grand-dogs, Remy and Peter—who filled the house with equal parts love and chaos.
But above everything, he loved his family, his Wife, his Sons, and the entire family that surrounded him. He guided his boys with discipline, pride, and a deep, quiet love that they only fully understand now as adults. His affection extended to his elder Sister & 2 Brothers, Nieces and Nephews, his Sisters-in-laws, Brother-in laws and all those he considered part of his family. More than anything, he wanted to see his three sons build lives he could be proud of, and there is comfort in knowing he left this world proud of the men they have become.
He is survived by his loving wife, Baljit Gill, and his three sons Sunny, Aman and Bobby Gill, as well as the countless friends who became family throughout his journey. Our home, and our community, are forever changed because of him.
We will honor Dad in accordance with Sikh traditions and welcome all who knew him to join us in celebrating his life. His legacy lives in the friendships he made across the country, the businesses he built from the ground up, and the strength and love he passed on to his sons.
Dad, thank you for your sacrifices, your courage, your laughter, and the life you gave us. We will miss you more than words can express, and we will carry you with us always.
