James "Matt" Everard

James M. “Matt” Everard, born October 23, 1956, in Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, in Shawnee, Kansas, at the age of 69.

Matt devoted many years of his life to the hospitality industry, where he was known for his warm demeanor and dedication to service. Outside of his professional life, Matt was an avid reader with a passion for history and a love for hockey, pursuits that brought him great joy and fulfillment.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, James F. Everard and Margie A. Everard, as well as his brothers, Fr. Robert Everard, Philip Everard, and David Everard.

Matt is survived by his loving sister, Mary Sharpe, and her husband Doug, who provided him with exceptional care and support during his final days. He is also survived by his brothers, Tom Everard and his wife Sandra, John Everard, Joe Everard and his wife Cathy, and Tony Everard and his wife Susan. Additionally, several nieces and a nephew mourn his passing and cherish his memory.

In accordance with his wishes, a private family graveside service will be held to honor Matt's life. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Mary and Doug for their unwavering care and guidance.

Matt will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
