Jack Wagner was born on February 20, 1999, to Jennie and Kurt Wagner. From the moment he arrived, with a full head of hair and an infectious smile, Jack brought joy to everyone around him. At 19 months old, he proudly became a big brother to Ethan, and seven years later welcomed Gabe into the family as well.
Growing up, Jack loved spending time outdoors. Whether he was riding his bike, camping, building forts, or playing outside with Ethan and Gabe, he was happiest when he was active and surrounded by family and friends. While attending St. Joseph Grade School, Jack enjoyed participating in CYO sports, especially basketball, football, and track. He was fortunate to be coached by outstanding mentors and to play alongside great teammates. Jack was also active as a Scout and served as an altar server from fourth through eighth grade.
In school, Jack was known for his sense of humor and his ability to make people laugh. He embraced the social side of school far more than the academic side, though that would eventually change. His outgoing personality and quick wit made him a friend to many.
After graduating from Shawnee Mission Northwest, Jack pursued a career in HVAC. He began his studies at Fort Scott Community College before transferring to Johnson County Community College. During this time, he met Hannah, the girl who would become the love of his life. After dating for three years, their paths temporarily diverged, and Jack moved to Alabama, where he continued working in HVAC and advancing his career.
After two years in Alabama, Jack returned home with two goals: to join Pipefitters Union Local 533 and to find Hannah. True to his determined nature, he accomplished both. Jack was proud to be a member of the union and embraced the challenge of completing its rigorous five-year apprenticeship program. The young man who once preferred the social side of school became a dedicated student of his trade. He was also a proud employee of US Engineering, where he built lasting friendships and found many of the people he would consider his true friends.
Jack and Hannah eventually found their way back to one another and became engaged in New Orleans during the summer of 2025. Later that year, they purchased a home together, and Jack took great pride in turning it into a place filled with warmth, comfort, and love. They were eagerly looking forward to their wedding later this year.
Jack never met a stranger. People were naturally drawn to his kindness, humor, and genuine happiness. He had a remarkable ability to make others feel welcome and valued. His presence brightened every room he entered, and the impact he made on those around him will never be forgotten.
Jack was preceded in death by his grandfathers, John Foley Sr. and Clement Wagner.
He is survived by his fiancée, Hannah Warren; his parents, Kurt and Jennie Wagner; his brothers, Ethan and Gabe Wagner; his grandmothers, Judy Foley and Karen Wagner; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He will be especially missed by Jeb, his and Hannah’s beloved dog and faithful companion.
A visitation will be 9:30-11:00 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am Thursday, June 4, St. Joseph Catholic Church; burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Shawnee, KS.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jack’s memory to support the construction of the new youth athletic facility at St. Joseph Grade School, where Jack spent so many happy years playing sports and building lifelong friendships.
