Irene M. Ross, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, in Shawnee, Kansas, at the age of 88. Born on June 7, 1937, in Newtongrange, Scotland, Irene's life journey took her across the ocean to the United States, where she built a loving family and a life filled with cherished memories.
Irene was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Robert C. Ross, and her dear parents, Andrew and Euphamia Millar. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, devoting much of her time to knitting, gardening, and nurturing her family. Her home was always warm with love and comfort, attributes that extended beyond her immediate family to all who knew her.
In her professional life, Irene worked in retail shoe sales, where her friendly demeanor and dedication left a lasting impression on both colleagues and customers alike. Her work ethic and enduring kindness were hallmarks of her character.
Irene is survived by her loving daughter, Mandy Poe; her cherished granddaughter, Bailey Poe and her partner, Jeffrey Owens; and her precious great-granddaughter, Layla Owens. The bond Irene shared with her family was the cornerstone of her existence, and her legacy of love will continue to thrive through them.
