Henry "Rick" Richmond Miller Jr., 79, passed away in Leawood, Kansas, on the twelfth day of July, 2026. He was born April 12, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri, to his parents, Henry Richmond Miller and Mary K. Miller.

As the first child in this Miller household, Rick became a leader for his sister, Cathy, and brother, Jim, whose births followed his. Rick loved music all his life from the first record player he was given at age two – having grown up with his parents' 1940's Big Band music.

Rick grew up in Webster Groves, Missouri, just like his parents. By following his father's "Peck's Bad Boy" reputation a little too closely, Rick had a humorous but minor brush with the law, landing him in Webster's Mayberry-like "clink" for a night before his father came and took him home. Rick then went to high school and graduated from Christian Brothers College in 1965.

After one year of college at Southeast Missouri State, Rick enlisted in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. While in the U.S.S. Bradford off the coast of Vietnam, he was granted emergency leave to return home to help his family financially due his father's terminal illness.

In the early 1970's, Rick graduated from Southwest Missouri State College with a bachelor's degree in Business and Marketing. Soon after he married and had two children, Jennifer and Michael.

Rick’s early career included sales positions that moved him from East Coast cities to Durango, Colorado.

In 1980, Rick returned to the Midwest where he leveraged his background in sales and marketing for independent resorts and founded HRM Marketing in Overland Park, Kansas. HRM created a new conduit of communication between consumers of deluxe travel products, be they individual, group or incentive linking them with entities capable of meeting their needs.

His love for the game of golf led him to start Carriage Trade Golf in 1994, an international golf tour operator. The company has been assisting enthusiastic clientele to access the world’s great courses, literally “Wherever the Game is Played.”

There, Rick developed lifelong friendships that built his business. He especially enjoyed playing the game with his "Juders" buddies at Blue Hills Country Club. Rick shared his love of golf by mentoring his son, Michael and tried hard with daughter Jennifer.

In 1998, Rick married Michele Lindquist who had two daughters, Danielle and Stephanie, which made a loving family of six in their home in Leawood.

Rick Miller was a man of faith, family and country who cared for everyone – relative or friend – whenever and wherever needed.

Preceding his death, his devoted wife, Michele, cared for Rick during his illness. He was lovingly surrounded by his family until his passing.

Rick is survived by his wife, Michele Miller; children Jennifer Miller Guthrie (Dallas), Michael R. Miller (Jennifer), Danielle Fickel (Chris), Stephanie Lindquist-Johnson; grandchildren John Guthrie, Paul Miller, Reece Miller, Theodore Miller, Olivia Fickel, Evan Fickel, Phillip Johnson; sister Catherine Miller Hahn, brother James B. Miller; nieces and nephews Daniel Renfro, Mary Renfro, Jaquelyn Miller and Christopher Miller.

There will be a visitation at 10am at the Church of the Nativity, 3800 W 119th St, Leawood, KS 66209, followed by a funeral mass at 11am. To view the service live CLICK HERE.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be sent to organizations of your choice.

In keeping with his humor, optimism, love for the game and all those he loved in life, Rick wants you to know:

As you walk down the fairway of life...

You must stop and smell the roses,

For you only get to play one round.
